Guard Your Tongue By Zelig Pliskin Laws Of Loshon Hora Chofetz Cha Hafetz Hayyim

  • $99.00

Description: A practical guide for being careful about gossip and talk in general. Very interesting, especially for the uninitiated. It also talks about unnecessary talk, idle talk, scoffing at important things or ideas and the sacredness of guarding your tongue. Also about watching what comes out of your mouth, and self-control in general. It brings sources and foundations for these common-sense rules to live by from the Bible and prophetic teaching. This book is a great antidote and in very stark contrast to the immoral world we live in today where talk is cheap and cheapened by people, and at a time where talking about others, who didn't do you no harm is not taboo anymore. Especially when stories about others are exaggerated or even outright lies. It isn't politically correct or cognizant of current, shallow social mores, which are only followed in order to impress others anyways. It is just pure ethical teachings about how to attain virtue and righteousness in today's world via guarding what you say, how you say it, and also by being silent more often then not. This can be learned side by side, and as a complimentary assistant to Buddhist teachings, meditation, and mindfulness. This has been culled and translated to English from the valuable teachings of the venerated Jewish sage called the Chafetz Haim (Israel Meir Hakohen 1840 - 1933) who personified and followed the meditation mindset and careful mindfulness in all that he did. This was also the way discovered by another revolutionary figure in Jewish thought and ideals, one named Rabbi Israel Salanter, who also articulated some similar ideas to Freud's psychoanalysis. This way of life is called 'Musar' or 'Mussar' which basically means 'Remonstrative Self Governance'.

This book is in very nice, crisp condition, without any writing inside, and with the original dust jacket.
